Since I have lived in the Chicago area I have found that Midwestern friends often ask for my chili recipe.
I suppose they assume that since I am from Texas I must be a skilled chili chef. Right? Right! I have a
tried and true recipe that I have been following successfully for years - and now, you too can share in this
flavorful chili. |
Buy a "Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Chili Kit." This is available off the shelf at reputable grocers. If your
grocer doesn't carry it, they are more than likely quite disreputable and you should really be shopping
somewhere else.
Buy a round steak - about 2 pounds.
Buy an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce. |
Follow the directions on the package (except instead of course ground beef, cut that round steak into very
small cubes - about ½ inch.)
Sharon and I usually make 1 Alarm Chili.
Don't forget to add the masa flour at the end! |
Note that this was the winner of the
1970
International Chili Society World's Championship chili cookoff. |
